Red Algae Growth Removal From Render

The genus Trentepohlia would not at first glance be taken as a green alga. Free-living species are mostly yellow to bright orange or red-brown in colour due to the orange pigment, haematochrome (b-carotene), which usually hides the green of the chlorophyll. The genus is terrestrial and is often found in Europe on rocks, walls and tree bark. Where they are found on buildings, they can cause severe mechanical degradation and deterioration. When treated correctly, the organic growth can be completely removed from render.

Mould Growth Removal From Render

There are a range of organic moulds and algae that grows on render, the most difficult to treat are the filamentous fungi as their structure keys into the porous render substrate making it hard to remove. The most common species found in this country are the Cladodporium spp and Alternaria spp and both metabolise a black pigment which protects them from UV radiations. It is this pigment which causes an unsightly staining on the render and if left unchecked can lead to severe mechanical degradation of the surface.

Green Algae Growth Removal From Render

Much easier to treat than mould, green algae grows quickly on render favouring the shadier north facing elevations. Our sensitive treatments are 100% effective in removing this organic growth and restoring the render back to its original colour.

Damaged Render

Render can fail as the result of weathering, poor application or mechanical damage.  As well as looking unsightly, if left untreated water may ingress into the building causing greater problems.  We offer repair services to restore the render back to its former glory.
